Tian Gao

Tian Gao was born in Wuhan, China, and studied at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music, the Minzu University of China in Beijing and the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany. After graduating, she worked with companies and artists such as Laborgras, Michael Laub / Remote Control Productions and Paper Tiger Theater. In 2018, she started dancing with Sasha Waltz & Guests and has since been involved in various pieces with the company. Since 2022 she is a steady member of the company. »River/江/Fluss«, her first full-length work as a choreographer, premiered at Podium Festival Esslingen in May 2022 and was shown at Tanzhaus NRW in September 2022. In addition to her artistic practice, Tian Gao teaches improvisation and composition and has hosted several workshops and research projects in Wuhan and Berlin.
