Kristian Refslund
Kristian Refslund educated himself in Munich (Iwanson) and Rotterdam (Codarts), and worked professionally with companies such as Noord Nederlands Dans, NDCWales in Holland and England as well as Norrdans and Skånes Dansteater in Sweden. Over those years as a company ensemble member he performed works from Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Martin Forsberg, Jo Strømgren, Leila Dailo, Melanie Demers, Ben Wright, Fernando Melo, Felix Landerer, Per Jonsson, Charlotta Övferholm, Alexander Ekman, and many others.
It brought him from the north to the south of Scandinavia and tours in Europe and Asia as well. The past years he has been freelancing with Sasha Waltz & Guests, and other projects in Scandinavia which
toured to Greenland, Faeroe Islands, Sweden, Germany and around Denmark. He also started a collaboration with the Royal Danish Ballet as a rehearsal director for their contemporary repertoire since 2023 and has for the past 5 years developed his class as a contemporary teacher of dance working with improv, codified movements and the relation to
immediate compositional values in space and time through his praxis.
He taught at DDSKS (University of contemporary dance in Denmark), Iwanson, Tivoli Ballet School, Danscentrum Syd among other places.
With Sasha Waltz he recalls especially »Figure Humaine« at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and »Romeo and Juliette« at Deutsche Oper as big life changing experiences, as well as »In C« performed with a huge group of amateur and professional dancers in the National Ballet and Opera in Amsterdam, celebrating the 750th year anniversary of the capital in summer 2025. Kristian has been dancing with Sasha Waltz & Guests since 2015.
