Alessandra Defazio
Alessandra Defazio was born in Italy and studied dance theatre at the Folkwang University in Essen, Germany, where she graduated in 2006. She works as a dancer, choreographer and teacher in Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.
Defazio has danced for Romeo Castellucci, Cindy Van Acker, Susanne Linke, Leandro Kees, Tanzcompagnie Rubato, Anna Konjetzky, Zufit Simon, Micha Purucker, Davide Camplani, Sebastian Hirn, Willy Dorner, Allora & Calzadilla, Canan Ereck, Kuo-Chu Wu, Orlando Rodriguez and Stella Geppert, among others.
In the 2008/2009 season, she was a guest at the Lucerne Theatre, where she worked with Verena Weiss. In 2009, she began choreographing with her twin sister Viviana in the productions »Il Piano del Tempo«, »I have got you under my skin« and in 2014 in »Eina«. The productions were performed at the Lucerne Theatre, Thanzhaus Zurich, Braunschweig, Hanover, Fürth, Ravenna and Barletta.
Since 2015 she has been working for the international dance festival for young audiences PURPLE in Berlin. Since 2016 she works as a dancer with Sasha Waltz & Guests and since 2022 as »In C«-Tutor as well as trainer for the children's and youth dance company of Sasha Waltz & Guest.
