Heike Schuppelius
Heike Schuppelius studied architecture and stage design at the Berlin University of the Arts and at the Architectural Association and Central Saint Martins School in London. Working scholarships and awards have repeatedly taken her abroad, including to Marseille, New York, Cairo and Rome. For her collaboration with the New York theater group Elevator Repair Service, she received the Bessie Award in the Visual Design category in 2003 and the Rome Prize of the Villa Massimo in 2004.
Her current installations and stage designs have been shown at the Athens Festival, Warschauer Herbst, Jahrhunderthalle Bochum, the Gorki Theater, Münchner Kammerspiele and the Naturkundemuseum in Berlin. She has an ongoing collaboration with choreographer Sasha Waltz, director Yael Ronen and visual artist Omer Fast, among others. From 2012 to 2018, Heike Schuppelius was a professor at the HfG Karlsruhe, and in the 2017/18 academic year she taught at the Athens School of Fine Arts in Athens. Since the 2018 winter semester, she has been Professor of Stage Design/Scenic Space at the HfG Offenbach.
