Travelogue I – Twenty to eight

Sasha Waltz

In 1993, Sasha Waltz came to Berlin at the invitation of the Künstlerhaus Bethanien to work on an interdisciplinary project titled »Dialoge«. Shortly after, the first part of the »Travelogue trilogy« was created as a co-production between the Grand Theatre Groningen and the newly founded company Sasha Waltz & Guests: »Travelogue I – Twenty to Eight«. With humor, aggressiveness and sensuality, Sasha Waltz sketched a danced journey through human interiors and a moral image of the present that has lost none of its explosiveness and relevance over the years. A dance classic that continues to delight audiences around the world to this day – with a new line-up since 2007.

World premiere on 16 September 1993, Grand Théâtre Groningen

The piece was developed by and with the dancers Nasser Martin-Gousset, Ákos Hargitay/Thomas Lehmen, Charlotte Zerbey, Takako Suzuki and Sasha Waltz.
