Workshops

A workshop by Sasha Waltz as part of the project »Berlin-Karussell. The Academy as a Living Artistic Practice« at the Academy of Arts: Together with a group of dancers and the musician Diego Noguera, the Berlin-based choreographer has developed a practice for the collective experience of the moment - for the time being. The workshop gives professional dancers the opportunity to get to know and try out this practice.

Over a period of five weeks, more than 40 international artists from various disciplines will be working on artistic projects at the Academy of Arts, which will be presented to the public as part of a non-linear composition developed by Arnold Dreyblatt.

Sasha Waltz is part of this programme with a workshop: Inspired by techniques such as »Authentic Movement« by Mary Starks Whitehouse or »Deep Listening« by Pauline Oliveros, »for the time being« focuses on drawing from a shared source of living imagination, that unfolds through movement, voice and language. Participants learn to open and sharpen their sensory perception, explore inner impulses and learn to follow them authentically. The practice is rooted in a radical embrace of every action and reaction within the collective, without judgement. Through continuous mutual inner and outer witnessing, as well as attention to space, time and group dynamics, an open, process-oriented practice emerges in an intense encounter in the here and now.​
