Open Studio weekend in May

On 16 and 17 May, our Open Studio weekend enters its next phase: on 16 May at 7 pm, young dancers will once again have the opportunity to offer a glimpse into their current work at »Open Studio: Stage #23«. On 17 May, the programme continues at 7 pm with »Open Studio: Jam«, the open jam session that brings the weekend to a close. Exceptionally, there will be no »CoinciDance« in May. From June onwards, however, all three formats will resume as usual.

On Saturday 16 May at 7 pm, we are once again opening our studio with »Open Studio: Stage #23« to provide a stage for the creative energy of Berlin’s vibrant dance and performance scene. Performing artists will present short pieces, works in progress or improvisations to a live audience – solo, in duets or in groups.

On Sunday, 17 May at 7 pm, the programme continues with »Open Studio: Jam«. The »Open Studio: Jam« project (formerly “OPEN STUDIO”) by Sasha Waltz & Guests regularly opens the dance company’s studio

on the 5th floor of Berlin’s Radialsystem to artists of all disciplines

for free improvisation (2 hours). Experienced artists and

newcomers from Berlin and beyond, from the fields of dance,

music, visual arts, drama, singing, philosophy, etc., are

invited to join in and flexibly participate in a

collective, open improvisation process. The “Open

Studio: Jam” is a meeting place – it offers a liberating

setting for lived plurality and the exchange

of the most diverse forms of artistic knowledge, joint research, brainstorming and the exploration of new perspectives.
