»In C« in Oslo
From 5 to 8 December, we will be dancing »In C« together with the dance company Nagelhus Schia Productions at Dansen Hus in Oslo.
The Norwegian dance company Nagelhus Schia Productions added »In C« to its repertoire in March 2023 and has since presented the choreography throughout Norway - and has already danced the piece several times together with dancers from Sasha Waltz & Guests. Now »In C« will once again be performed together, at Dansen Hus in Oslo.
Sasha Waltz's colourful exploration of the world of minimal music, »In C«, is based on Terry Riley's revolutionary and open composition of the same name. Together with 10 dancers, the choreographer developed choreographic material in spring 2021 that follows a similarly variable structure and therefore leaves room for ever-new variations. »In C« is an experimental, constantly evolving project.
From the outset, the basic idea of »In C« was to share knowledge openly across national borders, especially in light of current crises. The individual choreographic figures were recorded directly in video tutorials, enabling dancers to learn the choreographic material digitally and independently of location.
The piece has no set design; the lighting and costumes can be adapted and implemented with simple means. This means that »In C« can be easily passed on and »In C«-projects can be danced by people all over the world.
