CoinciDance

​The next »CoinciDance« will take place on 12 April at 5:30 pm – this time led by dancer Neus Montané.

»CoinciDance« combines the experimental spirit of »Open Studio: Jam« with a focus on instant composition in groups. Each session features different dancers guiding the exploration of various improvisation concepts. The workshops are accompanied by live music, to create a dialogue between sound and movement. We want to find improvisation tools that guide the collective decision making when dancing with a bigger number of people, increasing the freedom and the complexity for the group. To explore a variety of different tools and concepts, for each 2-hour-long »CoinciDance« session we invite different teachers (dancers or choreographers) that have expertise in collective improvisation techniques. They will share their practices, guide the beginning of the jam, and let the group play with the tools learned. We are very excited that this edition will be led by dancer Neus Montané.

Workshop fee: 10 Euro

We decided - for now - to open this format only to professional or experienced dancers. To work and improvise more focused we will limit the number of participants to around 30. First come first served!

Neus Montané was born in Barcelona. She is a freelance dancer, performer, dance teacher, and therapist. She graduated in physical theatre and dance from the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and further developed her contemporary dance training outside of academia, through artistic communities between Berlin and Barcelona. As a freelancer, she has worked mainly in Spain, Germany, and the Czech Republic, collaborating with artists such as Alica Minar and developing her own creative projects, including »Emprempta i cants«, a solo piece inspired by concepts of the philosopher Vinciane Despret. Her work spans dance, performance, and therapeutic practices, with a focus on movement as a form of expression, connection, and transformation. Deeply interested in the social aspects of performing arts, she is particularly drawn to their capacity to foster a sense of community. She regularly teaches contemporary dance and improvisation classes and workshops, aiming to create spaces where dance becomes a tool for communication, inclusion, and shared growth.

She is currently collaborating with Sasha Waltz & Guests.
